From above, Loum follows its main transport routes. The town extends along the road and the railway, with neighbourhoods branching off to either side. Beyond the built-up area, the map opens into large agricultural plots, and the pattern of plantation roads creates regular lines through the green. Loum is in the Moungo department of Cameroon's Littoral region, north of Douala.
