Njombé lies in Cameroon's Littoral region, on the fertile lowland that stretches north from the coast toward the highlands. From above, the town is a modest settlement strung along its main road. The area is part of the Njombé-Penja district, known for banana plantations and for Penja pepper, a white pepper grown on the local volcanic soils that has gained international recognition.
