Şabyā lies in the Jazan Region of south-western Saudi Arabia, on the Tihamah, the hot, flat plain that runs between the Red Sea and the mountains along the western edge of the Arabian Peninsula. The town sits a short distance inland from the coast. On the map its streets spread over level ground with few natural barriers, forming a broad and fairly regular shape.
Water here comes down from the highlands to the east, carried in wadis that are dry for much of the year and flow after heavy rain. These channels cross the plain as pale, braided lines, and the farmland along them shows up as patches of cultivation beside the town. Main roads link Şabyā with Jazan city and other towns on the coastal plain.
