Open plain setting
The land around Marte is almost flat, so no hills or valleys bend the layout. Roads leave the town in fairly direct lines across the surrounding plain.

Marte Map Poster & Print
Marte is a town in Borno State, in the far northeast of Nigeria. It is the administrative seat of the local government area that shares its name. It lies northeast of Maiduguri, on the wide, level plains that drain toward Lake Chad. With almost no relief to steer it, the town takes a loose shape from above, its streets and compounds spread across open ground.
This landscape changes with the seasons. Dry months and wet-season flooding both shape how the land around the town is used. On a map that shows up as sparse detail: a modest network of roads, tracks leading out to farmland and nearby settlements, and large quiet areas between them. The empty ground is part of the picture and says as much about the place as the streets do.
A Marte map poster is a spare, restrained image, closer to a drawing than a dense city plan. The Paper and Sand styles suit the warm, open character of the plain. Noir turns the few roads into thin light lines on dark ground, which makes the size of the surrounding land easy to feel from across a room.

Lake Chad basin
Marte lies in the wider Lake Chad basin, a region shaped by the lake and its shifting shoreline. The lake itself lies well beyond the edge of a town-scale map.
Roads outward
A few routes link Marte with other towns in Borno State. On the poster they read as the clearest lines and give structure to the looser street pattern around them.

Miért Marte?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
Many people connected to Marte now live far from it, and a map is a calm way to keep the town present at home. It shows the place as it lies on the ground, without commentary, and gives a name and a location to somewhere that rarely appears on printed maps.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name, a year or a short dedication. Pick one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Then download HD files for $9, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
