Old town on the hill
The historic centre forms a tight cluster of irregular streets on the rise. It is the densest and most intricate part of the poster.

Lebrija Map Poster & Print
Lebrija stands on a low rise in the province of Seville, on the edge of the Guadalquivir marismas. Here the land flattens into former marshland that has largely been drained and turned over to irrigated farming. The historic centre climbs the slope in a knot of narrow, irregular streets around the church of Santa María de la Oliva.
The map makes the contrast very clear. On one side there is the compact, winding old town with whitewashed streets packed close together. On the other side is the plain below, crossed by long straight irrigation channels and field boundaries that make a large geometric pattern. Newer neighbourhoods fill the space between the two.
Lebrija is the birthplace of Antonio de Nebrija, the humanist who published the first grammar of the Castilian language in 1492. It is also known in the flamenco world as a town with a long line of singers and guitarists. A Lebrija map poster captures a place poised between hill and marsh, old streets and new fields.

Marismas farmland
Below the town, drained marshland is divided by straight channels and field edges into large rectangles, an almost abstract pattern on the page.
Santa María de la Oliva
The main church stands in the old centre, and the streets around it curve and converge in the way typical of Andalusian hill towns.
