Thān is a town in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat, on the Saurashtra peninsula. The landscape around it is broad and dry, and on a map the town shows a dense core of streets and lanes with roads spreading outward across open land. Newer industrial areas and residential blocks sit on the edges, which makes the outline irregular and easy to recognise.
Thān is best known in India as a centre of the ceramics industry, with many units producing tiles, sanitary ware and pottery. The area is also linked with the Tarnetar fair, held each year at the Trinetreshwar temple not far from the town. The fair draws visitors from across Saurashtra.
