Ustroń lies in the Silesian Beskids of southern Poland, in the valley of the Vistula, which flows through the town not far from its source. On a map the settlement stretches along the river and the main roads, with streets climbing into side valleys and stopping at the forested mountain slopes on either side.
The town is known as a health resort, with spa facilities, sanatoriums and walking routes. Two mountains frame it: Równica to the east and Czantoria to the west, the latter reached by a chairlift. The river park and promenade along the Vistula are popular with visitors.
