Aringay is a municipality in La Union, on the western coast of northern Luzon. On a map, the town centre lies close to the shore. Its streets are arranged around the main road that runs north to south along the coast. The Aringay River cuts across this layout on its way to the sea, and its wide mouth is the clearest feature of the image.
Inland, the land rises gradually toward the foothills of the Cordillera, and the map shifts from town blocks to rice fields, barangay roads and scattered clusters of houses.
