La mappa
Baesweiler Map Poster & Print
Baesweiler lies on the flat, fertile plain north-east of Aachen, close to the Dutch border. From above, it reads as a group of distinct districts, including Setterich and Oidtweiler alongside the main town, linked by roads across open fields. Each district keeps its own compact core, so the map shows several small knots of streets rather than one continuous urban area.
Coal mining shaped the town for decades, with the Carl Alexander colliery at its centre until the mine closed in the 1970s. The former mine site and its spoil heap have since been turned into green space and put to new uses. Housing built for miners still shows as regular rows across the town.
A Baesweiler map poster shows how industry and farmland together shaped a town of scattered districts. Rows of miners' houses, older village streets and long country roads combine into an open, well-balanced composition. It is a fitting piece for people with family ties to the mines or to the villages of the Aachen region.

Miners' housing
Regular rows of workers' houses form orderly blocks among older, more irregular village streets. They date from the town's rapid growth during the mining era.
Open plain
Fields separate the districts and stretch toward neighbouring towns, so empty space shapes the map as much as the streets do, giving it a calm, airy balance.
