Senegal River
The broad river marks the town's southern edge and the national border, its curving banks and side channels giving the map a strong natural line.

La mappa
Bogué Map Poster & Print
Bogué is a town in the Brakna region of southern Mauritania, on the northern bank of the Senegal River, which forms the border with Senegal. From above, the town is shaped by its riverside position, with streets and compounds spreading back from the water and the fertile floodplain fanning out along the river.
A Bogué map poster reflects this clear contrast between river and plain. The Senegal River and its side channels form the southern edge of the composition, while the town's lanes and main roads extend northward into drier land. The pattern of streets is irregular, following compounds and paths rather than a strict grid.
The Senegal River valley has long been one of Mauritania's key agricultural areas, with fields planted on land flooded by the river each year. Bogué serves as a local centre for surrounding villages in the valley, and roads connect it to other towns in the Brakna region and along the river.

Floodplain fields
Farmland on the river's floodplain spreads along the banks, forming a band of cultivated land between the water and the town.
Organic street pattern
The town's lanes follow compound walls and paths, creating an irregular web that contrasts with the smooth curves of the river.
