Juruá meanders
The river curves in extraordinarily tight loops near the town. On the poster these bends form the dominant shape, much larger and more dramatic than the streets.

La mappa
Carauari Map Poster & Print
Carauari sits on the banks of the Juruá, one of the Amazon's major tributaries and one of the most winding rivers in the world. On the map the town is a small, tight grid on the higher bank, while the river loops back on itself in tight bends and oxbow lakes around it. Forest covers almost everything else.
The town is reached mainly by river and air, and there is no road connecting it to other Brazilian cities. That isolation shows clearly in the map: roads end at the edge of town, and the river is the only line leading anywhere. The area is also known for community-managed conservation reserves along the Juruá.
A Carauari map poster is really a portrait of the river. The Juruá's tight meanders and abandoned channels create dramatic shapes, and the town's small grid sits among them like a mark on a page. It is an unusual and striking image.

Oxbow lakes
Old river bends, cut off as the channel moved, remain as crescent-shaped lakes. They scatter across the map and record how the river has shifted over time.
Compact riverbank grid
The town occupies a small, regular grid on higher ground by the water. Its streets stop abruptly at the forest edge, emphasising how remote it is.
