La mappa
Chagni Map Poster & Print
Chagni lies in northwestern Ethiopia, in the Amhara highlands, on the main road running west towards the lowlands. On the map, the town is shaped by that road. Its main commercial street runs straight through the centre, and a looser network of residential lanes and compounds spreads out on either side.
Like many market towns in the region, Chagni serves the surrounding farming communities. The shape of the town reflects how it grew: from the main road outward, not from a single plan. Around the edges, streets become tracks, and the town gives way to fields, scattered homesteads and open ground.
A Chagni map poster is a quiet, understated piece. The strong line of the main road holds the composition together. The fine web of side streets and the open surrounding land give it texture. It works well in the Sand or Paper style, which suits the earthy character of the place.

Growing edges
Outer streets become less regular and gradually thin out. You can read on the map where the town is expanding into the surrounding farmland.
Open farmland
Around the town, the map becomes spacious and calm. Wide empty areas show the agricultural land that Chagni's market depends on.
