La mappa
Dihok Map Poster & Print
Dihok, also written Duhok, lies in a narrow valley in the north of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, not far from the borders with Turkey and Syria. On a map the city is shaped almost entirely by relief: built-up areas fill the valley floor and climb the lower slopes, while steep ridges on either side hold the streets in an elongated form.
North of the city, the Duhok Dam holds back a reservoir whose outline shows clearly among the hills. The city has grown considerably in recent decades, with new neighbourhoods spreading along the valley and onto higher ground, and it is home to the University of Duhok. Main roads follow the valley's length, with side streets rising in tighter, winding patterns.
A Dihok map poster conveys the character of a city defined by its landscape. Even in plain black and white, the long band of streets between empty mountain slopes gives the composition a clear direction and a sense of enclosure. It is a strong image for anyone who grew up in the valley or has family roots in the region.

Duhok Dam reservoir
Just north of the city, the dam and its reservoir form a distinct shape among the hills, one of the most recognisable water features on the map.
Hillside streets
On the slopes, roads curve and switch back to follow the terrain, contrasting with the straighter main avenues that run along the length of the valley.
