Township sections
The township is divided into distinct sections, each with its own tight network of curving streets and small plots, repeated across the map like a pattern.

La mappa
eSikhaleni Map Poster & Print
eSikhaleni lies in northern KwaZulu-Natal, south of the industrial port of Richards Bay and within the uMhlathuze municipality. It was laid out as a planned township, and from above its sections form a clear pattern of curving roads and closely spaced residential plots, with schools, churches and open spaces set between them.
The surrounding landscape is the low coastal plain of Zululand, a country of sugar cane, timber plantations and shallow freshwater lakes, some of which lie close to the township. The University of Zululand's main campus is nearby at KwaDlangezwa, and the town's growth reflects the jobs brought by Richards Bay's harbour and heavy industry.
An eSikhaleni map poster shows a place that is rarely mapped with care: the repeated rhythm of its streets, the open ground of sports fields and schools, the lakes at the edge. In black and white the planned structure becomes clear and graphic, a fitting portrait of a place many call home.

Lake edges
Shallow coastal lakes lie near the township, their smooth outlines providing a calm, open contrast to the dense residential fabric on the poster.
Plantation surroundings
Beyond the built-up area, sugar cane and timber plantations cover the rolling land, drawn as broad field shapes and tracks around the town.
