The Yangtze edge
The river forms the long southern boundary of the town, a single heavy band of water that anchors the whole composition and gives the street pattern a clear direction.

La mappa
Fengcheng Map Poster & Print
Fengcheng is the urban core of Changshou District in Chongqing, and it sits on the north bank of the Yangtze. From above, the river sets the southern edge in one wide curve. The town climbs away from the water in uneven bands, because the ground around it is folded into low hills. Few streets run straight for long before a slope turns them.
That hilly ground is typical of the Chongqing municipality. Roads follow ridgelines and valley floors instead of a grid, so on paper the street pattern looks organic, closer to leaf veins than to a chessboard. Newer districts spread onto flatter land and have longer, more regular blocks. Older lanes stay tight and irregular nearer the river.
A Fengcheng map poster shows these two parts together: the broad, steady line of the Yangtze and the restless street pattern that fills the hills above it. The district takes its name, Changshou, from the idea of longevity. Changshou Lake, a large reservoir, lies inland to the northeast. In black and white, the town reads mainly as a study in water against terrain.

Streets shaped by hills
Roads bend around slopes and follow the valleys, producing curving, branching lines that differ sharply from the orderly grids of plains cities.
Old core, newer blocks
Tighter lanes near the water give way to longer, more regular blocks on flatter ground, so the map shows several layers of growth side by side.

Perché Fengcheng
Una mappa che ha un significato
For people from Changshou, this map is a way to keep home close: the river bend, the hills, the streets walked daily. It also works as a quiet graphic piece for anyone drawn to the way Chongqing's terrain shapes its towns.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a family name or a year, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy it as a $9 digital download or as a printed poster, framed if you like.
