La mappa
Görogly Map Poster & Print
Görogly lies in Daşoguz Province in the north of Turkmenistan, in the lowlands of the lower Amu Darya. This is irrigated country. On the map, the town is surrounded by a fine mesh of canals, ditches and rectangular fields stretching toward the horizon, while its own streets are laid out in a fairly regular pattern of low-rise blocks.
The town takes its name from Görogly, hero of an epic told across Central Asia, the Caucasus and Anatolia and honoured in Turkmenistan as a national figure. Away from the canals, the cultivated land gives way to the dry expanses that border the oasis, so the settlement reads as a clearly defined island of activity.
A Görogly map poster is a quiet tribute to a home town for people who grew up in the Daşoguz region, including those now living in Ashgabat or abroad. The pattern of fields and water channels around it gives the print a texture unlike any city map.

Field patterns
Rectangular farm plots surround the settlement on all sides, giving the outer map an even, geometric texture that frames the streets at its centre.
Town grid
Görogly's streets follow a fairly regular layout, a compact built-up area that stands out clearly from the agricultural land around it.
