La mappa
Grafton Map Poster & Print
Grafton lies just southeast of Worcester, in the rolling country of central Massachusetts. Like many New England towns, it is not a single dense centre but a set of villages spread across a wide area. The historic town common sits on higher ground, with churches and older houses around it, while other villages grew along the Blackstone and Quinsigamond rivers below.
Mills once operated in several of these river villages, powered by the water that runs through the valley. Today the town mixes quiet residential streets, farmland and woodland. North Grafton is home to the veterinary school of Tufts University, whose campus occupies a large tract of open land on the north side of town.
A Grafton map poster shows the pattern of New England settlement very clearly. Roads curve between villages, ponds and streams fill the gaps, and the common sits like a small open square at the centre. In fine monochrome lines, the composition feels relaxed and organic, a portrait of a town shaped by rivers and hills rather than a grid.
