La mappa
Hakonegasaki Map Poster & Print
Hakonegasaki is an area in the town of Mizuho, in the Nishitama district of western Tokyo. It sits on the flat terrace land of the Musashino plain, where Tokyo's outer suburbs mix with fields and light industry. From above, it is a fine-grained patchwork of detached houses, narrow lanes, small factories and remaining farm plots, with no single dominant centre.
To the north, the Sayama Hills rise as a wooded area around reservoirs that supply the Tokyo region. To the south lies the large expanse of Yokota Air Base, whose runway and open ground form a sharp, straight-edged shape on any map of the district. Rail lines and main roads cross the area in long lines.
A Hakonegasaki map poster shows the texture of outer Tokyo in detail. The small streets and plots create a dense, even pattern across the frame, broken by the straight lines of roads and rail and by the open spaces nearby. It is a thoughtful print for anyone who has lived in this quieter corner of the metropolis.

Sayama Hills
The wooded hills and reservoirs to the north appear as a large open area at the edge of the map, softening the dense street pattern.
Airfield edge
The long, straight boundary of the Yokota Air Base area nearby forms a strong geometric shape against the irregular suburban lanes.
