La mappa
Hammanskraal Map Poster & Print
Hammanskraal lies north of Pretoria, where the city's suburbs give way to open bushveld. From above, it is a spread-out place made of several distinct settlements rather than one continuous town. Each has its own street pattern, and between them lie patches of open land and informal paths.
The main transport routes are the clearest lines on the map. The N1 highway and the railway both run north from Pretoria past the town and connect it to the wider province. Smaller roads branch off them to the residential areas, where regular blocks of plots contrast with the loose tracks crossing the surrounding veld.
A Hammanskraal map poster presents the town as it actually is on the ground: a group of neighbourhoods linked by long roads, set in wide flat land under a big sky. In a minimal black-and-white style the pattern becomes surprisingly graphic, with dense clusters of streets placed against a lot of open space.

Separate settlements
Several residential areas, each with its own block pattern, sit apart from one another, so the town reads as a group of clusters.
Open bushveld
Between and around the neighbourhoods, open land and informal tracks give the poster large quiet areas and a feeling of scale.
