The Han River
The river curves past the city toward Wuhan, a broad and fluid line that gives the flat plain its main structure and draws the eye across the print.

La mappa
Hanchuan Map Poster & Print
Hanchuan is a county-level city in eastern Hubei, administered by Xiaogan and lying just west of Wuhan. It sits on the low, well-watered Jianghan Plain, and the map reflects that setting: a dense urban core surrounded by fields, channels, ponds and small lakes, with very little relief to interrupt the pattern.
The Han River, the largest tributary of the Yangtze, flows past the city on its way to Wuhan. It shapes everything around it. Embankments, bridges and roads follow its bends, and irrigation channels divide the surrounding farmland into a fine mesh of plots. Low-lying lakes and ponds are scattered across the plain on every side.
A Hanchuan map poster is defined by water in every direction. The wide sweep of the river, the scatter of lakes and the rectilinear blocks of the modern town combine into a detailed, textured composition, one that rewards a closer look at the many ways the plain has been divided and used.

Lakes and ponds
Small lakes and countless ponds dot the surrounding plain, creating a scattered pattern of shapes that softens the edges of the urban area.
Modern city blocks
The centre is laid out in large, regular blocks with wide roads, a contrast to the irregular fields and waterways that surround it.
