Field and channel grid
Drainage and irrigation channels divide the plain into rectangular plots. Printed in fine black lines, they create a repeating pattern that fills the poster with quiet structure.

La mappa
Higashigō Map Poster & Print
Higashigō lies on the low, level ground of Saga Prefecture in northern Kyushu, where the Saga Plain opens toward the Ariake Sea. Maps of this landscape are shaped less by hills than by water. Irrigation and drainage channels divide the land into long, regular parcels, and small roads run along their edges between clusters of houses.
Saga is known for farming on this plain and for the Ariake Sea beyond it, whose wide tidal flats are famous across Japan for nori seaweed cultivation. Settlements here tend to be spread out. Homes gather along roads and embankments rather than in one dense centre, which gives the map an even, patterned texture.
A Higashigō map poster captures that patterned quality. Fine lines of roads and channels repeat across the sheet, interrupted by the slightly denser weave of village streets and the occasional railway or main road cutting straight through. It is a calm, almost textile-like image, well suited to the minimal black-and-white treatment.

Scattered village streets
Houses cluster along roads and waterways instead of forming a single core. The result is a series of small, dense knots spread evenly across the map.
Toward the Ariake Sea
The plain continues toward the shallow Ariake Sea, whose tidal coast shaped farming and fishing in the region. That lowland setting gives the whole map its flat, open character.

Perché Higashigō
Una mappa che ha un significato
This map suits anyone connected to rural Saga, whether they grew up among its fields or visited family on the plain. Its even, geometric texture works well in minimalist interiors, where it reads almost as an abstract print.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, and there are five styles to choose from: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order a $9 set of HD files in six print sizes, or a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
