Central crossroads
Main roads from several directions meet in the town centre. Their meeting point is the anchor of the whole map, and most of the denser blocks are gathered around it.

La mappa
Hosa’ina Map Poster & Print
Hosa’ina sits high in the Ethiopian highlands, south-west of Addis Ababa. From above, the town grows out from a set of main roads that meet near its centre. Denser blocks cluster along these routes. Further out, the street pattern loosens into smaller lanes, compounds and farm plots that spread across the gently rolling land around it.
The town is an administrative and market centre for the Hadiya people and the farming country around it. At this altitude the climate is cool and the land is fertile, so the fields reach right up to the edge of town. Main roads connect Hosa’ina with other towns in the region, and on a map they are the strongest lines, meeting at the centre like the spokes of a wheel.
A Hosa’ina map poster records a town that is still growing. It has a clear centre, main roads leading out in several directions and new streets filling in the land between them. In monochrome, the loose outer lanes and scattered buildings form a soft, detailed texture around the denser core. The result is a calm picture of a highland town at a particular point in its growth.

Growing edges
Outside the core, newer streets and compounds are gradually filling the land between the main roads. They give the print a fine, uneven texture.
Highland setting
The town sits on high, rolling farmland. Field boundaries and rural tracks run right up to its edges and frame the streets.
