Caldera basin
Irosin lies on the flat floor of an old volcanic caldera, so the town's streets and fields are enclosed by a ring of higher ground.

La mappa
Irosin Map Poster & Print
Irosin sits in the province of Sorsogon, at the southern end of Luzon in the Bicol Region. It occupies the floor of the Irosin caldera, a large depression formed by an ancient volcanic eruption, with Mount Bulusan rising to the east. On a map, the town looks enclosed, with streets and rice fields filling a basin framed by higher ground.
The caldera floor is fertile and well watered, and the settlement is surrounded by paddies, coconut groves and small streams. Roads leave the basin through gaps in the surrounding hills to link Irosin with the rest of Sorsogon, while Bulusan Volcano Natural Park covers the forested slopes nearby.
An Irosin map poster makes the geology visible. The streets gather in the low centre of the basin and thin toward the rim, giving the page a natural focus and frame. For a small town, it is an unusually striking layout, and it reads with clarity in any of the five styles.
