Shahi Bridge
This Mughal stone bridge crosses the Gomti near the fort. It is one of the few historic crossings of this kind still in use, and it is easy to find on the map.

La mappa
Jaunpur Map Poster & Print
Jaunpur lies on the Gomti river in eastern Uttar Pradesh, northwest of Varanasi. In the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries it was the capital of the Sharqi sultanate. The monuments from that period give the city its landmarks, including the Atala Masjid and the Jama Masjid, whose large gateway screens are among the finest examples of the regional style.
On a map, the Gomti is the main feature. It curves through the city, dividing it into two parts. The Shahi Bridge crosses it with a row of stone arches built in the Mughal era in the sixteenth century, and the old fort stands on the bank nearby. The older districts spread out from the river in a dense network of lanes.
A Jaunpur map poster shows the river's curve, the bridge that crosses it, and the tightly packed old city around the fort and mosques. Farther from the river, the streets become more open and the city gives way to the farmland of the Gangetic plain. The contrast between the dense centre and the open surroundings gives the print a clear shape.

The Gomti bend
The river loops through the city and separates the older districts from the newer ones. Its curve gives the poster a strong main line.
Old city lanes
Around the fort and the large mosques, narrow lanes form a dense, irregular pattern that dates back to the city's time as a sultanate capital.

Perché Jaunpur
Una mappa che ha un significato
Jaunpur is well known for its history, but for the people who come from here it is the river, the bridge and the lanes of home. A map of the city keeps all of that together on one wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates with a family name, a wedding date or a neighbourhood. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the old city's historic character.
