La mappa
Mirzāpur Map Poster & Print
Mirzāpur lines the southern bank of the Ganges in eastern Uttar Pradesh, where the river flows between Prayagraj and Varanasi. The older city sits close to the water, with a dense web of lanes leading down to the ghats, while newer districts spread southward toward the edge of the Vindhya hills. On the map, the river forms a broad, smooth edge along the city's northern side.
The city has long been known for its carpets and brassware, and carpet weaving remains an important craft in the surrounding area. Nearby Vindhyachal, with the temple of the goddess Vindhyavasini, draws pilgrims throughout the year, and the fort at Chunar, overlooking the Ganges further downstream, is one of the region's best-known historic sites.
Mirzāpur also has a small place in the way India keeps time: the 82.5° E meridian that defines Indian Standard Time passes very close to the city. A Mirzāpur map poster shows the river, the ghats and the tangle of old streets that has grown along the Ganges over centuries, with the hills just beyond.

Old city lanes
Near the river, a dense tangle of narrow lanes and small squares forms the oldest part of the city, in sharp contrast to the wider roads further south.
Vindhya foothills
To the south, the land rises toward the Vindhya range, and the street pattern thins out as the city meets rocky slopes and open country.
