La mappa
Keene Map Poster & Print
Keene is the seat of Cheshire County in southwestern New Hampshire. Its layout centres on Main Street, often described as one of the widest paved main streets in the United States. The street runs north to Central Square, where a white-steepled church stands at the head of the view. On the map, this broad axis is the clear spine of the town.
The Ashuelot River winds through the western and southern parts of the city in loose meanders. Parks and floodplain land follow its banks, and the street grid bends around them. Keene State College occupies a campus close to Main Street, so academic buildings and quads sit within walking distance of the downtown shops.
A Keene map poster reflects that compact New England form, framed by wooded hills. Mount Monadnock rises to the southeast. The town is also known for its Pumpkin Festival, which once set records for the number of lit jack-o'-lanterns. On paper the city reads as orderly and balanced, with its river curling loosely around the edges.

Ashuelot meanders
The river loops through the city's western side, bringing curves, parkland and floodplain into a street pattern that is otherwise fairly regular.
College campus
Keene State College sits just off Main Street, its paths and quads forming a looser pattern of buildings and green space close to the centre.
