Victorian street grid
The original town plan is a regular grid of straight streets. It is still clearly visible at the centre and easy to read even at small print sizes.

La mappa
Ladybrand Map Poster & Print
Ladybrand is a Free State town close to the border with Lesotho, a short drive from the crossing to Maseru. It was laid out in the nineteenth century on a regular grid, with the church and town centre near the middle. The Platberg, a flat-topped ridge, rises directly behind the town and frames it.
Many older buildings are made of local yellow sandstone, which gives the streets a consistent, warm character. The town is named after Lady Catharina Brand, mother of Johannes Brand, a president of the Orange Free State. Nearby sandstone outcrops shelter rock art and cave sites that draw visitors from both sides of the border.
A Ladybrand map poster shows a compact, legible town: straight streets crossing at right angles, a denser centre, and lower-density suburbs spreading along the roads out of town. On one side the slope of the Platberg interrupts the pattern. That gives the composition a natural edge that looks deliberate on the wall.

Platberg ridge
The flat-topped mountain beside the town stops the streets abruptly and forms a strong natural boundary on the map.
Road to Maseru
The route to the Lesotho border leaves town to the south. It connects Ladybrand with Maseru and gives the map a clear directional line.

Perché Ladybrand
Una mappa che ha un significato
Ladybrand appeals to people who have lived in the eastern Free State, crossed often into Lesotho, or stayed in one of its sandstone guesthouses. A clean map of the grid and the ridge makes a fitting keepsake for a farmhouse, a city flat or a holiday cottage.
Personalise the poster with a title, a subtitle such as a family name or wedding date, and the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the files or order a matte print, framed or unframed.
