Ridge-top roads
The main roads follow the tops of ridges instead of straight lines, so the town's layout curves and branches with the land.

La mappa
Nyamira Map Poster & Print
Nyamira is the headquarters of Nyamira County, in the fertile highlands of western Kenya east of Lake Victoria. From above, the town does not follow a grid. Its roads follow ridges and dip into small valleys, and the built-up area thins quickly into farmland. Streams and small rivers cut through the terrain in narrow, winding lines.
The surrounding Gusii highlands are known for tea, bananas and intensive smallholder farming. Because of the steady rainfall and red soils, the land is densely cultivated. That shows up on the map as a fine mesh of tracks and footpaths. The town itself serves as the county's administrative and market centre.
A Nyamira map poster reduces this green, hilly country to line and contour. The main roads trace the high ground, while the smaller paths spread across the slopes in an irregular pattern. The result looks organic, almost like a leaf's veins, and is different from a flat grid city. It works well as a personal piece for anyone from Nyamira County.

Stream valleys
Small rivers and streams run through the lower ground between ridges. They add thin, winding lines to the map and mark where the land drops.
Farmland mesh
Around the town, a dense network of tracks and paths serves small tea and food farms. This fine texture fills much of the poster.
