La mappa
Rheinbach Map Poster & Print
Rheinbach lies in the Rhein-Sieg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, southwest of Bonn, where the Rhine lowlands begin to rise toward the Eifel hills. The historic centre still follows the line of its medieval walls, and the Hexenturm, a surviving tower of the old fortifications, is a local landmark. From above, the compact core is clearly visible within a ring of newer residential areas.
After the Second World War, glassmakers from northern Bohemia settled in Rheinbach, and the town has been known for glass ever since. It has a dedicated glass museum and a vocational school for glass technology. Rheinbach is also home to a campus of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, adding modern buildings to the town's outer districts.
A Rheinbach map poster shows the rounded outline of the old town, the rail line toward Bonn and Euskirchen, the villages that belong to the municipality and the forest of the Kottenforst to the northeast. In black and white, the layout reads as a small, well-ordered town set in a landscape of fields and woods.
