River boundary
The broad river separating San Nicolas from Laoag forms the most prominent feature on the map, with bridges drawing short lines across the water between the two towns.

La mappa
San Nicolas Map Poster & Print
San Nicolas lies in Ilocos Norte, directly across the river from Laoag, the provincial capital. The two are closely linked, yet on the map the river draws a clear boundary between them, with bridges connecting the banks. The town's centre follows the Spanish colonial pattern common in the Philippines, with streets arranged around a church and plaza.
Beyond the centre, San Nicolas extends into barangays and farmland, where roads become looser and follow field edges and irrigation lines. A San Nicolas map poster shows this transition from the compact core near the river to a wider, more open pattern of rural roads and settlements.
The town is known locally for its tradition of earthenware pottery, made from clay found in the area and still produced by families in some barangays. That craft does not appear on a map, but the settlement pattern it grew within does: small clusters of houses along roads, surrounded by fields that stretch toward the plains of the Ilocos coast.

Church and plaza
The historic centre follows the colonial plan of a church facing a plaza, with a small grid of streets radiating from that civic core.
Rural barangays
Outside the centre, roads loosen into a network following fields and irrigation, connecting scattered barangays across the flat Ilocos plain.

Perché San Nicolas
Una mappa che ha un significato
For Ilocanos abroad and families with roots in Ilocos Norte, San Nicolas is often more than a neighbour of Laoag. A map of the town, its river and church plaza, is a clear and personal link to that place.
The title and subtitle can carry a family name, a barangay or a date, and the coordinates can be kept as they are. Classic black and white suits the clear river line, while Paper adds a gentle, heritage feel.
