Level lowland
With no relief to follow, streets and lanes run in long, direct lines, which gives the map a calm, orderly look that stays legible at every print size.

La mappa
Shizhai Map Poster & Print
Shizhai lies in the far north of Jiangsu, on the broad lowland that runs toward the borders of Shandong, Henan and Anhui. From above the ground is almost perfectly level. With no hills or coastline to bend it, the town takes its shape from roads, drainage channels and the edges of cultivated land. Straight lines dominate, and the town's outline is set by where the farmland stops.
At street scale the centre reads as a tight cluster of blocks around a few through roads, with lighter, more scattered building beyond them. Farther out, small villages sit like islands in a sea of fields, each joined to the next by a narrow lane. Printed in black and white, this pattern of cluster, lane and field turns into a quiet, even texture.
A Shizhai map poster suits someone who knows the place from the inside: the road into town, the market street, the house at the end of a lane. It is not a famous skyline or a landmark city. It is a lowland community drawn clearly, with enough detail to find a home and enough space around it to show how open the plain is.

Scattered villages
Around the town small settlements dot the farmland, each a small knot of lanes. Together they form a loose constellation that fills the edges of the frame.
Water channels
Irrigation and drainage channels cross the plain in thin, deliberate strokes, adding fine linework that separates the fields from the built-up centre.
