River channels
Meandering rivers and smaller channels cut across the flat terrain towards the sea. They draw the most organic lines on the map.

La mappa
Sungai Raya Map Poster & Print
The map of Sungai Raya is mostly flat country. Rivers and drainage channels wind towards the coast of the South China Sea, and settlements string along the main roads rather than gathering in one dense core. Houses, fields and plantations alternate in narrow strips. The shoreline forms a long, gentle edge on the western side of the frame.
Sungai Raya lies in West Kalimantan, the Indonesian province on the western side of Borneo. Its name means 'great river', which fits a landscape shaped by water. The area has a mixed Malay, Dayak and Chinese Indonesian population, typical of this coast, and much local life follows the road and river routes that connect the towns along the shore.
A Sungai Raya map poster shows how this place is threaded together. Winding waterways cross straight roads, and scattered building blocks line them. There is no single dramatic landmark to anchor the image. Instead, the pattern of the land itself gives the poster its character, quiet and linear, recognisable to anyone who knows the area.

Roadside settlement
Homes and shops follow the main roads in long ribbons. The result is a linear town pattern rather than a compact centre.
Borneo coastline
The western edge of the map meets the South China Sea along a smooth, low shore. It gives the composition a clear boundary.
