Ţafas lies in the Daraa Governorate of southern Syria, on the Hauran plain, a wide volcanic plateau that has been farmed for thousands of years. The map shows a compact center with an irregular older core, surrounded by newer streets. Around the town, the land is almost entirely agricultural, divided into fields and orchards.
The Hauran is known for its dark basalt soil and stone, which has long been used in local buildings. The plain is fairly flat and open, so the pattern around Ţafas comes mainly from roads, field boundaries and dry streambeds, which carry water in the wet season and cross the landscape in gentle curves.
A Ţafas map poster reflects a town closely tied to the land around it. The main roads lead to neighbouring towns and to Daraa, the streets become sparser towards the edges, and the fields continue beyond the frame. It is a restrained, quiet composition, well suited to a black-and-white print.
