La mappa
Taganrog Map Poster & Print
Taganrog sits on a promontory jutting into Taganrog Bay, the north-eastern arm of the Sea of Azov. The historic centre follows a clear rectangular grid, with long streets running parallel to the shore and shorter lanes descending toward it. Water wraps around the cape, and the land drops to the sea in steep banks, so the map feels bounded and precise.
Peter the Great founded Taganrog in 1698 as a naval base, one of Russia's first on a southern sea. The city is the birthplace of Anton Chekhov, and his childhood home and the family shop are preserved as museums. A stone staircase descends from the old town to the waterfront, one of the city's best-known landmarks.
A Taganrog map poster captures an early plan that remains clear today, framed by the waters of the bay. Buy the $9 digital HD files, with six print sizes including A2 and 24×36″, each as a 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.

Cape and bay
The city occupies a promontory in Taganrog Bay, so the shoreline wraps around the old town and defines much of the edge of the map.
Stone staircase
A long flight of steps runs down from the upper town to the seafront, a short straight line where the grid meets the water.

Perché Taganrog
Una mappa che ha un significato
Taganrog is a city people tend to remember in detail, from the Chekhov museums to the walk down to the sea. A map poster holds that memory in a simple form, suited to anyone who grew up there or studied in the city.
Rename the title, add a subtitle with a date or a quotation, and edit the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, with Blueprint suiting the naval origins particularly well.
