Tāzah Khūrmātū, often written Taza Khurmatu, is a town a short distance south of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. Its population is predominantly Turkmen, part of a community long established in the Kirkuk area, and the town serves as a local centre for the farming villages on the surrounding plain.
From above, the town is low and spread out. Streets form a loosely regular network of residential blocks, and the main road runs through as the defining axis.
