La mappa
Terra Santa Map Poster & Print
Terra Santa is a municipality in western Pará, Brazil, on the floodplain of the lower Amazon. On a map, the town is a small, compact grid of streets set against a large expanse of water. Lakes, side channels and flooded forest cover much of the surrounding land.
Life here follows the rise and fall of the river. The water level changes the shape of the surrounding lakes and channels through the year, and boats remain the main connection between many communities. Fishing and farming on the floodplain have shaped the local economy.
A Terra Santa map poster shows the town as a small island of streets in a world of water. The contrast between the orderly blocks and the flowing shapes of lakes and channels gives the print an unusual, striking balance.
