La mappa
Tulancingo Map Poster & Print
Tulancingo lies in a high valley in the state of Hidalgo, northeast of Mexico City, surrounded by low hills and mountains. The city centre follows a grid around its main square and cathedral, while newer neighbourhoods spread across the flat valley floor. The Tulancingo River runs through the area, and roads lead out toward Pachuca and the Sierra.
The city has long been a regional centre of textile and wool production, and the valley is known for dairy and cheese. The archaeological site of Huapalcalco nearby points to settlement in the valley long before the colonial era. Tulancingo is also the seat of a Catholic archdiocese, with its cathedral anchoring the historic centre.
A Tulancingo map poster shows a city with a clear heart and generous surroundings. The grid is regular near the centre and bends at the edges where hills begin to rise. The river adds a winding counterpoint, and the roads stretching across the valley give the print a sense of openness typical of the Mexican altiplano.

Tulancingo River
The river crosses the valley near the city, drawing a curving line through streets and fields that breaks the regularity of the surrounding blocks.
Valley edges
Hills rise around the valley, and at the city's fringes streets begin to curve and thin out, showing where the flat valley floor meets higher ground.
