La mappa
Yakushima Map Poster & Print
Yakushima lies south of Kyushu in Kagoshima Prefecture, a nearly circular island whose interior rises steeply into a cluster of high peaks. Miyanouradake, the tallest, is the highest mountain in the Kyushu region. On a map almost everything human sits in a thin ring along the coast: one road circles the island, and villages sit at intervals along it where rivers reach the sea.
The interior is mountain forest, much of it inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, among the first natural sites in Japan to be listed. It is known for ancient Japanese cedars, the yakusugi, the most famous of which, Jōmon Sugi, is reached by a long hike from the road. The island is also one of the wettest places in Japan.
Short rivers run straight down from the mountains to the sea on every side, and a few roads climb inland toward trailheads before stopping. A Yakushima map poster captures that simple, striking structure: a circle of coast, a ring road, radial valleys and a large open space at the centre where the forest keeps the map empty.

Central peaks
The mountainous heart of the island, including Miyanouradake, carries almost no roads, leaving the centre of the poster open, quiet and uncluttered.
Radial rivers
Short, steep rivers run outward from the mountains toward the sea in every direction, cutting the coast into a pattern of valleys and small river mouths.

Perché Yakushima
Una mappa che ha un significato
Yakushima draws hikers, forest lovers and people who have walked among its old cedars in the rain. Its round, centred form makes an unusually balanced poster, one that feels both like a map and like a quiet abstract shape.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a hiking date or trail name, keep or edit the coordinates, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files.
