Irregular core
The centre is tightly packed and has no strict grid, with streets meeting at varied angles where the terrain allowed them to.

La mappa
Yongxing Map Poster & Print
Yongxing lies in the southern part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country between the Yangtze valley and the uplands toward Guizhou. The terrain rises and falls constantly. Roads climb, dip and turn, and small towns fit themselves into the gaps between ridges.
On a map the town appears as a compact, irregular cluster. Its main streets follow the easiest ground, and narrower lanes pack the spaces between them. Around the centre, farm roads wind across the hills past fields, ponds and scattered houses. Few lines are straight, which gives the drawing a flowing, restless look.
A Yongxing map poster suits people from this corner of Chongqing, where every town has its own particular fit to the hills. The print is plain and precise, a record of real streets rather than a stylised view.

Winding approaches

Ponds and fields
Small ponds and farm plots dot the surrounding hills, adding small shapes and quiet spaces around the settlement.
