Bogorodsk is a town in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, lying to the southwest of Nizhny Novgorod on the far side of the Oka. From above, its centre shows a fairly regular pattern of streets, with a clear main axis and orderly blocks spreading outward. Around the town the land opens into fields and patches of forest, and small ponds and water bodies add soft shapes to the edges of the map.
The town has a long association with leather crafts: for generations tanning and leatherworking were its defining trades, and that reputation still comes up whenever Bogorodsk is mentioned.
