Bougara Map Poster & Print
Bougara is a town in Blida province in northern Algeria, in the eastern part of the Mitidja, the broad and fertile plain that stretches behind Algiers. To the south, the land begins to rise into the foothills of the Blida Atlas. The town sits right at this transition, with flat farmland on one side and higher ground on the other.
The Mitidja has long been one of the country's most productive farming areas, known for citrus orchards, vineyards and market gardens. Around Bougara, fields and groves are divided by straight tracks. The town's streets form a fairly regular pattern of blocks, a legacy of its colonial-era layout, when it was called Rovigo.
