Busesa lies in eastern Uganda in the Busoga sub-region, a short distance east of Iganga. From above it appears as a trading centre strung along the road, with a denser cluster of buildings near the junctions. Around that cluster, small plots, footpaths and village lanes spread outward in an irregular, finely divided pattern.
This is green, cultivated country, and the land between settlements is mostly farmed in small holdings. The map shows that clearly: few straight lines and many short, branching paths connecting homes, fields and neighbouring villages. The road through Busesa acts as the spine for the whole composition.
