Çubuklu is a neighbourhood in Istanbul's Beykoz district, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus. It lies around a small bay, where the coastline curves inward between neighbouring waterside quarters. On a map, the shore road follows the water closely, and the houses and streets climb steeply up the hills behind.
Above the neighbourhood, on the wooded slopes, stands the Khedive's Palace, Hıdiv Kasrı. It was built in the early twentieth century for the last Khedive of Egypt and is known for its tower and gardens. The green of the grounds and the surrounding groves forms a large, quiet area on the map, in contrast to the tighter streets near the water.
A Çubuklu map poster places the Bosphorus at its centre. The strait runs through the frame as a broad band of water, with the far European shore on the other side and the bay of Çubuklu cutting a soft curve into the Asian coast.
