Itaperuçu is a municipality in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, in the state of Paraná, set in hilly country to the north of the capital. On a map the land dictates almost everything: roads and streets follow valleys and ridges rather than any regular plan, and the town appears as a series of settled patches linked by winding routes.
The urban area is modest, with a centre along the main road and residential streets climbing the slopes around it. Between these areas lie large stretches of green, with small streams, woodland and farmland filling the space and giving the map an open, rural character.
