Johns Creek is a suburban city in north Fulton County, and its map looks nothing like a traditional downtown. Streets curve in loops and branching cul-de-sacs through wooded subdivisions. A handful of long arterial roads connect them. To the east and south, the Chattahoochee River traces a winding boundary, and forest and parkland line its banks.
The city is young. It was incorporated in 2006 from communities that had grown rapidly as Atlanta's suburbs spread north. It takes its name from a small creek that flows toward the Chattahoochee. The Atlanta Athletic Club, whose courses have hosted major championships including the PGA Championship, lies within the city.
