Kālappatti lies on the northeastern side of Coimbatore in western Tamil Nadu, within the city's expanding urban area. On a map it shows the pattern of a place in transition: an older village core with irregular lanes, surrounded by newer residential layouts whose streets follow straighter, planned lines, all connected to the main roads leading into the city.
Coimbatore is known for its textile mills, engineering industry and education, and its growth has steadily absorbed surrounding villages like this one. The region sits at the foot of the Western Ghats, and although the hills lie some distance west, they influence the climate that makes this part of Tamil Nadu comparatively mild.
