Kavār lies in Fars province in southern Iran, on a broad agricultural plain southeast of Shiraz, with mountain ridges visible on the horizon. From above, the town forms a compact centre with streets extending in several directions, and the surrounding land is divided into a patchwork of fields and orchards.
Agriculture is the basis of local life, supported by irrigation on the fertile plain. The town is also a county centre, serving the villages around it with markets, schools and administration, and its roads connect it with Shiraz and other towns of the province.
