Mirador Map Poster & Print
Mirador is a small town in the interior of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil, set in the open savanna landscape known as the cerrado. Its map is simple. A compact group of streets and blocks sits around the centre, and a few roads leave town across flat country marked by streams and the lines of gallery forest.
The municipality shares its name with the Parque Estadual do Mirador, a large state park created to protect the headwaters of the Itapecuru River. The Itapecuru is one of the most important rivers in Maranhão, and the park covers a wide area of cerrado plateaus, springs and valleys.
A Mirador map poster shows a town on a small scale surrounded by a landscape on a large one. There is a tight cluster of streets in the middle, and around it a wide, open setting of savanna, creeks and long rural roads heading off toward the region's highlands and river sources.

Itapecuru headwaters
The Mirador State Park protects the sources of the Itapecuru River, one of Maranhão's most important waterways, in the cerrado nearby.
Cerrado landscape
Streams lined with gallery forest cross the open savanna around the town. They draw thin, winding lines across the outer poster.
