Mount Juliet lies in Wilson County, Tennessee, east of Nashville. From above, it is a classic Middle Tennessee suburb: looping residential streets and cul-de-sacs laid out in neighbourhood clusters, connected by a handful of main roads running north to south between the interstate and the lake.
Interstate 40 crosses the southern part of the city, and the area around its interchange holds large shopping and commercial developments. To the north, the city reaches toward Old Hickory Lake, the reservoir on the Cumberland River, where the shoreline breaks into coves and inlets. Mount Juliet has grown quickly over recent decades as Nashville expanded.
