Opit Map Poster
Opit lies in Uganda's Northern Region, in the Acholi subregion not far from Gulu. The landscape is broad and gently rolling, a savanna of grassland, scattered trees and farmland, and the town has grown along the roads that cross it. Its layout is modest: a trading centre with shops and markets, surrounded by homesteads spreading into the countryside.
From above, Opit is mostly open space. A handful of roads give the main structure, and smaller tracks lead out to villages and fields. An Opit map poster embraces that openness. It places a light cluster of streets in a wide field and lets the thin lines of rural paths carry the eye to the edges of the frame.
Northern Uganda has changed a great deal over the past two decades, as people returned from displacement camps to rebuild farms and communities. Towns like Opit became local centres for that rural life. The map records the place simply, as a pattern of roads and settlement in a wide landscape, much as it appears on the ground today.
